4 Panthers who could emerge as major contributors in 2020

Carolina Panthers Player No. 1: Seth Roberts (WR)
The Carolina Panthers boast plenty of options available to them at the wide receiver position. D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, Curtis Samuel have the potential to become one of the NFL’s best wideout trios. And there are plenty of other players that have realistic ambitions of making an impression.
One such individual is Seth Roberts, who arrived in free agency on a one-year, $3.75 million deal that included a $650,000 signing bonus and $650,000 guaranteed. He comes into the organization looking to secure the No. 4 receiver position. And it is hard not to like the sort of athleticism the player brings to the table.
Roberts is a big body target at 6-foot-2. And he has the necessary speed to cause real problems on deep routes. Couple this with the player’s ability to create separation in tight windows. And the Panthers could have a wideout that may emerge as another reliable target for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to call upon.
Fighting for targets will be the main battle for Roberts. The likes of Pharoh Cooper, Brandon Zylstra, and undrafted free-agent Omar Bayless will all fancy their chances heading into camp. But the former West Alabama standout appears to be the slight favorite to win the No. 4 spot on the depth chart going into training camp.
The wideout was used sparingly in the Baltimore Ravens’ run-first offense in 2019. But he has accumulated career stats of 179 receptions, 2,097 receiving yards, 15 touchdowns, and a catch percentage of 60.5 over his six-year career in the NFL. And there is hope Roberts can thrive in Joe Brady’s dynamic scheme.
