Carolina Panthers trade target No. 1: Anthony Barr (OLB)

One possible player that the Minnesota Vikings might be willing to trade in the coming months is Anthony Barr. The edge rusher got paid in 2019 after going back on his decision to join the New York Jets in free agency. And this would fill a position of need for the Carolina Panthers.

Barr has been an intriguing player during his time in the league. The former UCLA star is a force to be reckoned with when firing on all cylinders. But some would argue that he hasn’t yet made the most out of his outstanding skill set.

Achieving just 1.5 sack last season is simply not good enough for a player with such exceptional athletic traits. While Barr has improved remarkably in areas such as run support. Minnesota might be tempted to a decent offer regarding their former first-round pick, who they might even release next year.

The Vikings do have an out with Barr’s deal in 2021, which would save them around $18.3 million over a three-year period. And this sort of cap relief might be too tempting to ignore in the current climate.

Adding Barr to the Panthers would give them a superb outside linebacker tandem alongside Shaq Thompson. It would further add to the strength of Carolina’s front seven. And the player would get more freedom than he is experiencing under Mike Zimmer’s scheme.
