Carolina Panthers Draft: Trevor Lawrence (QB) – Clemson (No. 4)

Justin Fields, Penei Sewell, and Micah Parsons were the first three players selected in this mock draft simulator. This might be the best possible scenario for the Carolina Panthers. And it would undoubtedly lead to the organization taking their next franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence.

The Clemson signal-caller is projected to go higher than No. 4 after a stunning two-year spell with the Tigers so far. Lawrence looked NFL-ready after his first season under center. And although he was unable to get back-to-back National Championships in 2019. This does not detract from what a supreme prospect he is.

Lawrence has everything one looks for in a productive quarterback at the next level. He has the prototypical size and arm strength. And he goes through his reads impressively and quickly to deliver the ball with accuracy.

He is also comfortable moving out of the pocket to make things happen. This is a surprising element of Lawrence’s game that should not be overlooked. But he will need to improve his awareness to make a real go of things against speedier pass-rushers in the NFL.

The quarterback will have the biggest of bullseyes on his back entering the league. This is to be expected with a highly-touted player such as Lawrence. But the Panthers don’t really have an out with Teddy Bridgewater’s contract until 2022. So there wouldn’t be any immediate pressure for him to come in and start right away.
