Carolina Panthers Draft: Jackson Carman (OT) – Clemson (No. 36)
The Carolina Panthers take Trevor Lawrence with their first-round pick. And they are in prime position to get the quarterback’s college blindside protector in the second round.
Jackson Carman is another impressive prospect that comes with a high ceiling. He is a man-mountain that is incredibly difficult to move off the block. And he plays with ruthless aggression that is surely going to transition well to the pro ranks.

His size and mobility are exceptional. And Carman is quick to get his hands up powerfully to the point of attack and prevent opposing defensive lineman from gaining any sort of momentum.
Carman’s arm length is good enough to keep even the quickest pass-rushers in-front of him. And if he can work out some problem areas in the coming months, then someone is going to have a prospect with elite protection potential on their hands.
The lineman was given a significant test from No. 2 overall pick Chase Young last season. This will be the film that NFL scouts will pick apart regarding Carman if there is no college campaign
Although he held his own against the former Ohio State standout. He was beaten on a few occasions thanks to his tendency to throw himself into blocks.
This is no real slight on Carman’s overall potential. Young is arguably the best defensive end to come out of college in recent memory. And the Panthers could slot him at right tackle right away to allow stud lineman Taylor Moton to shift over to the blindside.
