Derrick Brown is everything we expected

The Carolina Panthers invested a lot in getting Derrick Brown to the organization. They took the formidable defensive tackle No. 7 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. And the player arrives in the league with a Pro Bowl ceiling.

Brown has been everything as advertised so far, His calm demeanor has ensured a smooth transition to training camp in difficult circumstances. And the former Auburn sensation has been using this unprecedented time as valuable experience as he looks to make an immediate impact at the next level.

"“Just getting that experience taught down to me now, and me being able to get it on the front end rather than later on is beneficial to me. I’ve been a part of a defense where it’s been down, and it’s been brought all the way back up. It’s about the guys in the room. It’s never about anything else. “I’ve been put in the situation of when we get started, it’s going to be the real thing. So it’s going to come about, and it’s going to be best on best. And in that situation, I’ll just get ready for it.”"

Getting the most out of Brown from the off will be vital for the Panthers’ chances in 2020. Pairing him alongside veteran defensive tackle Kawann Short has the scope to transform their run defense. And having the productive Pro Bowler to leave on during his initial transition is going to do wonders for his overall development.

If the pressure is on Brown, the player himself is not showing it. He is a very laid back individual whose attitude off the field is unrecognizable from the ruthless character that steps between the lines.

This bodes extremely well for Brown and Carolina going forward. And this can only mean good things for their overall aspirations.
