Carolina Panthers No. 4: Where Jeremy Chinn will be utilized

The Carolina Panthers have a potential star on their hands in Jeremy Chinn. The rookie has certainly looked the part during team drills during the first week of training camp. And this has left coaching staff and players heaping praise on the safety.

This all bodes well for Chinn’s chances of making a lasting impression straight away. But where exactly on the field the Panthers are going to use him remains to be seen.

Chinn himself is keen to avoid a position tag, labeling himself as a defensive weapon in a recent interview. And the former Southern Illinois standout has all the physicality and athleticism needed to make an impact on the backend or the second level.

If the Panthers choose to use him as a jack of all trades, then it is going to be a significant asset to have. It will be a case of trial by fire for Chinn and other rookie players in 2020 with no preseason games to hone their skills. But there is nothing to suggest he cannot make a presence felt within a secondary that goes into the campaign with its fair share of concerns.
