By Dean Jones
With the Big Ten canceling fall football, we picked out five players who should be on the Carolina Panthers’ radar during a lengthy evaluation process.
Things are turning sour quickly regarding any prominent college football in the fall. The Big Ten and Pac-12 formally canceled their respective seasons this week. But they did leave some hope that things could resume in the spring.
This notion is inconceivable for prospects looking to enter the NFL next year. And this pressure cooker situation has the chance to put a spanner in the works regarding the Carolina Panthers’ draft plans.
Big Ten players who are aiming to hear their names called in 2021 are simply not going to take the field in a college setting again. Jeopardizing their professional payday is going to do more harm than good. And it just is not the smart way to go.
It is far from an ideal situation. And one that the NCAAF should probably have handled a lot better. Players from different conferences have all come together in their desire to play providing things are safe. But the powers that be are making this decision for them.
The Panthers will need to adjust their scouting plans accordingly regarding specific players of interest. And in head coach Matt Rhule they have a man who knows more about the college system and its players more than most thanks to his glittering spells at Temple and Baylor.
This will be a tremendous asset to have during this unprecedented time. And here are five prospects who should be on Carolina’s radar in 2021.
