Carolina Panthers: 3 trade targets from the New England Patriots

Carolina Panthers trade target No. 3: Jakobi Meyers (WR)
The sharks already seem to be out for Jakobi Meyers despite being in the league for just one season. The wide receiver went through his fair share of struggles in 2019 after going undrafted. But this is typical of players at the position during the initial period of transition.
It is too soon to give up on Meyers’ skill set. He did show glimpses of promise as a rookie. And more will be expected during his sophomore campaign with Cam Newton under center.

Meyers caught 26 of 40 catchable balls thrown his way for 359 receiving yards. He possesses good size for the position. But his inability to create separation became a constant source of frustration for Tom Brady last season.
There is no doubt that Meyers will have learned a lot from his first year in a professional environment. But he will need to show a marked improvement to avoid the wrath of Bill Belichick in 2020.
This is an area that could become a problem for the Panthers next spring. Curtis Samuel is out of contract and might be looking for a more prominent role elsewhere. And other fringe players such as Seth Roberts and Pharoh Cooper were brought in on short-term deals and may not be around.
Meyers seems like a good scheme fit in Joe Brady’s offense. And it is unlikely the price would be too steep providing the wideout doesn’t make astronomical strides next season.
