Carolina Panthers camp: 4 offensive players on the roster bubble

Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Will Grier – QB
Will Grier might be looking at a place on the practice squad if he fails to impress during training camp. The Carolina Panthers brought in P.J. Walker following a standout stint in the XFL. And if the organization decides to go with two signal-callers during the season, then the former third-round pick could be out of luck.
This would be harsh on Grier. But the Panthers could slap the protected practice squad player tag on him to ensure they keep him around.

It was clear from his rookie exploits that it might be some time before he is ready for any prolonged period under center. Although his offensive line did him absolutely no favors in 2019.
It might be a little too soon to put the bust label on Grier. Getting thrown to the wolves last season was far from an ideal situation. And there is just no telling what this sort of experience will do for his confidence.
There is also the presence of Walker to consider. The player emerged as an MVP candidate before the XFL disbanded. And his previous relationship with Matt Rhule is something else that might have a detrimental impact on Grier’s chances.
Carolina’s coaching staff don’t have any emotional attachment to Grier. They were not around when they drafted him. And it will be up to the former West Virginia star to make sure he is part of their plans going forward.
