Jeremy Chinn plans to make an impression all over the field, but could the Carolina Panthers possibly start their second-round pick at outside linebacker?

The Carolina Panthers appear to have a player with enormous potential on their hands in Jeremy Chinn. They traded back into the second round to select the player during the 2020 NFL Draft. And he has plenty of likable traits that can make a smooth transition to the next level.

Just where Chinn will be utilized by the Carolina Panthers is one of the more intriguing elements to the season. The former Southern Illinois standout has already declared his willingness to become a defensive weapon for the organization. And this is something that could bring instant results.

There is a lot to like about Chinn’s ability. He has the size and physicality to mix it at the second level. And the player also has the necessary athleticism to make a real difference in the secondary.

Having such versatility in a prospect can only benefit the Panthers going forward. They rid themselves over overpaid veterans past their prime this offseason. And it has left them with a dynamic-looking defense that could be a revelation if everything clicks into place right away.

Chinn has the potential to become an integral part of Carolina’s defense immediately. And one possible position that the player could fill is outside linebacker.

This would require some significant adjustments from a prospect that spent the majority of his college career at safety. But slotting him opposite Shaq Thompson is an intriguing option, to put it mildly.

Here are three reasons why Chinn should be considered as a possible starter at outside linebacker in 2020.
