Teddy Bridgewater’s accuracy

One thing that impressed various media members on their first visit to training camp was Teddy Bridgewater’s accuracy. This was one of the primary reasons he was brought to the Carolina Panthers. And it could be something that becomes a real asset to the organization in 2020.

Bridgewater is never going to be the dual-threat quarterback that the Panthers had in Cam Newton. But what he will provide is a more assured presence under center. The former first-round pick has superior accuracy to the 2015 NFL MVP. And it is hard to envisage a big drop-off given the strength of weapons around him next season.

The Panthers’ social media team has already released plenty of footage of some outstanding throws from Bridgewater at training camp. This might have to be taken with a pinch of salt until we see how he reacts when opposing defenders are flying around the field in 2020. But it is hard to deny that the early signs are enormously encouraging.

There are always going to be skeptics. And this will be the first full season Bridgewater will be playing as a starter since 2015.

Some sections of Carolina’s fanbase already have the knives out for Bridgewater due to their affection and loyalty to Newton. But if there was any time to put this crazy offseason behind them, it is now.

The pressure is on Bridgewater to start well. If he can do this and alleviate some concerns in the process, then picking him up in free agency is going to be a shrewd move.
