Derrick Brown – DT

It is hard for the No. 7 overall pick to exceed expectations. But it appears that Derrick Brown could be everything the Carolina Panthers thought he was and more.

The former Auburn standout has caught the eye during training camp in a big way. And this has left his teammates gushing in their belief he could be the man to anchor this defense for the foreseeable future.

Brown is a stout presence on the line of scrimmage. And he has a rare blend of imposing size and athleticism that is going to give opposing players nightmares for years to come.

Don’t let Brown’s calm exterior fool you. He is a devastating force on the field who plays the game with ruthless aggression that is sure to make a smooth transition to the next level.

The ceiling could not possibly be higher for Brown. And the rookie is going to be aided considerably by the presence of returning veteran Kawann Short alongside him in 2020.

This duo is going to completely transform the Panthers’ dismal run defense next season. Both command high attention and eat up a considerable amount of space. And this will free up much-needed room for Carolina’s pass-rushing options to do some considerable damage.

Brown has every took in his locker to make a telling impact from day one. Some are questioning his ability to get to the quarterback. But this is as close to a can’t miss prospect as the Panthers could have hoped for from their first-round selection.
