3 possible Panthers trade targets from the New York Giants
By Dean Jones
Which players on the New York Giants might the Carolina Panthers be interested in acquiring on the trade market to boost their rebuild?
The Carolina Panthers have been bold in their decision-making this offseason. Plenty of established veterans were deemed surplus to requirements. And this has left the organization with a completely different feel to it heading into 2020.
This was to be expected with a new regime coming in. Things were trending in the wrong direction under Ron Rivera. And the Carolina Panthers now have a man at the helm who has a strong record for building struggling college programs back to prominence.
Matt Rhule has come across well during his first few months in the role. But it is hard to deny just what a significantly challenging period it has been for the former Baylor man.
A disrupted preparation period has only increased concerns regarding the Panthers’ chances in 2020. Everyone seems to be pulling in the same direction if the early stages of training camp are any indication. However, getting out on the field in a competitive environment is something this new-look unit won’t get a chance to do before their Week 1 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Much more needs to be done next spring and possibly beyond to get Carolina back into postseason contention. This could be done in free agency, the 2021 NFL Draft, or there is even the prospect of the Panthers making a splash in the trade market.
