It promises to be a season full of twists and turns for the Carolina Panthers. This is down in no small part to the changes made within the organization. But the severely disrupted offseason is another element to consider that could have a detrimental impact.
One area of the field that has undergone some of the biggest changes is in the secondary. The Carolina Panthers gutted their defense overall. And this has left them with a young, hungry group that might be lacking in NFL experience. But they should more than makeup for this with versatility and athleticism.
The safety spot is going to be crucial to the Panthers in 2020. There are plenty of questions regarding those occupying starting positions at cornerback. So they are going to need a solid security blanket on the backend to limit the damage against some elite passing attacks on the schedule.
This is a key component of every great NFL team. Although Carolina is not expected to be in the higher echelons in terms of contesting for a Super Bowl. They will need to show enough development as the campaign progress to prove the organization is finally heading in the right direction.
A lack of preseason games in 2020 has only added to the uncertainty. But the early signs from Panthers’ training camp have been good.
