We power ranked each rookie on the Carolina Panthers relating to their respective performances at training camp so far.
The Carolina Panthers have plenty of rookies fighting to make a name for themselves in the NFL. This is something that has been seen prominently during the first three weeks of training camp. And this has provided additional competition for a new-look roster heading into 2020.
New head coach Matt Rhule and other decision-makers within the Carolina Panthers made a concerted effort to go younger this offseason. A host of familiar faces are no longer with the organization after going their separate ways in free agency. Whether this move is going to come with instant success on the field following a disrupted preparation period is another matter entirely.
The foundations have been laid for the Panthers to get back into contention sooner rather than later. Much more needs to be done going forward. But judging by how well this latest batch of college recruits have acclimatized themselves to the next level in the most difficult of circumstances, the future is incredibly bright.
Some first-year players are expected to contribute more than others next season. Some will be surprise adds to the roster, and others will be looking for alternative employment once the difficult final cuts are made.
That is all part of the NFL’s ruthless business, unfortunately. We power ranked rookie performances at camp so far from what has been available to view.
18. Derrek Thomas – CB
Derrek Thomas is the bottom of this list due to his relative lack of production compared to others. He has had a sample of NFL life before in 2019 with the Seattle Seahawks. And Matt Rhule will know plenty about what he can bring to the table following their time together at Baylor.
