17. Branden Bowen – OL

Branden Bowen comes with a tremendous skill set. But injury problems have once again reared their ugly head as he looks to make his presence felt at the next level. There is a lot to like about the former Ohio State Buckeye in terms of performances if he can prove to the coaching staff he is durable enough to make his presence in a professional environment.

He was forced to miss an early portion of camp with a knock. And this has left Bowen playing catch up after missing time he simply does not have in his pursuit of making the 53-man roster.

16. Sam Franklin – LB

Sam Franklin is something who has plenty of likable traits. But it is clear more will be needed if he wants to make any sort of impression with the Carolina Panthers in 2020.

There does appear to be an opening for anyone at the second level who makes an impression. But the decision-makers might opt to go with players with a little more experience with no preseason games on the schedule.

15. Chris Orr – LB

Chris Orr has found like tough during training camp so far. He has struggled in coverage according to multiple reports. And this level of concern alone might make the Panthers think twice about gambling on the former Wisconsin standout.

There is still some time for Orr to turn things around. But this is something that needs to happen sooner rather than later.

14. Joseph Charlton – P

Joseph Charlton is coming on after a difficult start to Panthers’ training camp. Some of his kicks were wayward, to put it mildly. And it has forced the organization to bring in additional competition in the form of Kaare Vedvik.

He has raised his game significantly over the last few days, which indicates he has responded well to the challenge of having his starting spot under threat.
