Troy Hill (CB) – Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams might have gone through their fair share of disappointment in 2019. But that cannot be said for the performances of cornerback Troy Hill.

The former Oregon standout enjoyed a breakout year thanks to some supreme consistency that really caught the eye. Even with the landmark trade to acquire Jalen Ramsey, Hill still shone brightly to give the Rams one of the best cornerback tandems in the NFL.

Something will have to give regarding Ramsey’s contract in the coming months. The shutdown corner is playing on the franchise tag in 2020 and Hill is also heading into the final year of his deal.

If the Rams were faced with a choice of which cornerback to pay, then they would go with Ramsey. This might present a window of opportunity for a team like the Carolina Panthers to make a move to acquire Hill via the trade market.

This is an area that still poses some concern after wholesale changes to the Panthers’ cornerback group. Just how they are going to get on will be something to monitor closely. But there is little doubt Hill and No. 1 option Donte Jackson is a partnership that could be highly productive in Carolina.

Hill will make a base salary of $2.85 million next season. Another strong campaign would see the player demanding top dollar from the Rams and with the salary cap figure coming down due to a lack of revenue, this is something they simply cannot afford.
