One dangerous newcomer for every team on Panthers’ 2020 schedule
By Dean Jones
Denver Broncos: Jerry Jeudy – WR
The Broncos wasted no time in using their first-round selection on Jerry Jeudy after he fell into their laps at No. 15 overall. The former Alabama wide receiver is an exceptional prospect who should have no trouble making his presence felt from the moment he steps on the field.
Jeudy’s route-running is already at an elite level despite the rookie not playing a down in the big leagues. He is immensely intelligent and is able to catch the ball well under pressure. And he is going to be a key component for a Denver team that is quietly fancied to mount a postseason push in 2020.
Green Bay Packers: Christian Kirksey – LB
Aaron Rodgers did not get anything in the way of help at wide receiver during free agency or the NFL Draft. This will no doubt have frustrated him and the team’s fanbase. And they are going to be relying on their defense more than ever next season.
Arguably their most notable addition was that of linebacker Christian Kirksey. He should solidify things at the second level and provide another security blanket for a talented secondary to make plays consistently.
Whether this will enable the Packers to get one step further and reach the Super Bowl next time around is up for debate. But their defense is far better for Kirksey’s presence.
Washington Football Team: Chase Young – DE
Former Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera has been raving about Chase Young during the offseason so far. The No. 2 overall pick is projected to be the best pass-rushing prospect entering the NFL in a generation. And he is going to be a nightmare for opposing offensive lineman from the off.
Young is a rare talent. He is physically imposing with explosiveness that is out of this world. This combination is going to be a force on the edge. And there is every possibility that the former Ohio State sensation makes the Pro Bowl in his first year as a professional.
