Here are three reasons why Derrick Brown has the potential to transform the Carolina Panthers’ fortunes on defense.
Derrick Brown has been everything the Carolina Panthers expected at training camp so far. The No. 7 overall pick has been one of the real stars during team drills. And this is going to stand the rookie in good stead as he looks to make an immediate impact next season.
There is a lot to like about the sort of physical traits Brown brings to the Carolina Panthers. The coaching staff has been raving about his contribution to camp so far. But putting it together when it matters most in a competitive environment is a different matter entirely.
Pairing Brown with Kawann Short has the potential to completely turn around the Panthers’ fortunes on defense. The veteran Pro Bowler was sorely missed in 2019 after only being able to play two games before a torn rotator cuff ended his campaign early. But he is now back at full health to further aid the former Auburn standout through his initial period of transition to the pros.
The ceiling is phenomenally high where Brown is concerned. He is a commanding presence on the line of scrimmage who has a rare ability to make others around him better. And this is sure to benefit the formidable pass-rushing weapons on the edge that Carolina has at its disposal.
Brown is a transcendent talent if he reaches his ceiling. Here are three ways he can transform the Panthers’ defense from the moment he steps on the field.
