3 possible Panthers trade targets from the New Orleans Saints

Malcom Brown – DT
The Carolina Panthers might be looking for someone to fill the void left by Kawann Short next year. The Pro Bowler is a prime candidate to be moved on thanks to his $20.83 million cap hit in 2021. And it appears extremely unlikely that the franchise will keep him on this sort of outlay.
They might look at the 2021 NFL Draft for someone that can play opposite Derrick Brown for the foreseeable future. But if the Panthers choose to look at possible trade options, then Malcom Brown is a name that warrants consideration.
Brown is a former first-round pick who has achieved plenty throughout his time in the NFL so far. He is a stout presence to move off the line of scrimmage in the run game. And although he does have some limitations rushing the passer, the defensive lineman does get sufficient push thanks in no small part to his exceptional power.
The two-time Super Bowl champion has two years and $8.7 million in base salary remaining on his deal that acquired the tackle from the New England Patriots. But the Saints do have David Onyemata waiting in the wings for an opportunity to become a more prominent starter.
This might see the Saints explore the possibility of moving Brown on next spring. Carolina does not have many proven winners on their roster after a number of key offseason departures. So trading for someone like the former Texas standout would give their defense instant credibility.
