5 young Panthers players who have turned it on at camp

Carolina Panthers Player No. 4: Myles Hartsfield – DB/RB
One of the more surprising contributors during training camp has undoubtedly been Myles Hartsfield. The undrafted free-agent has made his presence felt on both sides of the ball with the Carolina Panthers. And it has propelled the player into strong contention for a place on the 53-man roster.
Hartsfield has made some big plays in his more traditional role as a cornerback during team drills. He has taken to an NFL environment incredibly well as does not seem overawed in the slightest by a steep step-up in class.
The Panthers’ coaching staff are keen to see what Hartsfield can do in various scenarios. This has also seen the rookie take some snaps at running back, which has been the making of him.
One such team practice saw the player rush for two touchdowns and display a level of elusiveness that really caught the eye. This does not guarantee his place on the team, but this sort of versatility is something that Carolina sought heavily during their recruitment process this offseason.
Hartsfield has put himself in a good position to forge a successful career, at least initially. He will need to take this onto the field in a competitive environment if the opportunity arises. And even if he doesn’t make the roster, a protected practice squad player tag is not out of the realms of possibility.
