4 cornerback trade targets for the Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers trade target: Kevin King – Packers
Kevin King was a standout performer for the Green Bay Packers in 2019. But he is heading into the final year of his rookie deal and only time will tell as to whether the organization is willing to hive the cornerback a long-term deal in the coming months.
The former second-round pick gave up just 49 receptions from 82 targets last season. There are some elements of his game that need a slight brush-up. But this was a significant step forward for a player who had been used sparingly by the Packers during his first two years in the NFL.
King has a tremendous speed to call upon. He also has solid instincts that allow the player to locate the football quickly and under pressure. This is something that the Carolina Panthers are undoubtedly looking for if reports are correct. But the price to acquire him might be steep despite his contract situation.
The Washington product started 14 games in Green Bay last season on his way to 66 combined tackles, 56 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, 15 pass deflections, and five interceptions. King played a leading role in the Packers reaching the NFC Championship game before their eventual demise at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. And this experience of being in a winning environment is another element to what he might possibly bring to the Panthers.
All this might be a smokescreen to get those currently on Carolina’s roster to increase their level of performance during the remainder of camp. But if trading for a corner is something the Panthers are intent on before they return to competitive action, then King is well worth a look.
