3 ambitious targets for Panthers WR D.J. Moore in 2020
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers target No. 1: 1,400 receiving yards
D.J. Moore broke 1,000-yards receiving for the first time in his career last season. This was even more remarkable when one considers the less than stellar quarterback play the Carolina Panthers had at their disposal in 2019. So there is every chance that the receiver can improve on these numbers with Teddy Bridgewater under center.
Moore eventually finished the campaign with 87 receptions, 1,175 receiving yards, and four touchdowns. This also included a 13.5 yards-per-catch average and a receptions success rate of 64.4 percent. He became their go-to option as a sophomore and this can give the Panthers great encouragement that the best is yet to come.
It might be unrealistic for Moore to get 135 balls thrown his way given the outstanding weapons around him next season. But there is nothing to suggest he cannot be more efficient when opportunities present themselves.
This is going to be pivotal for Carolina’s chances of surprising people who have already written them off as also-rans in 2020. Moore providing somewhere in the region of 1,400 yards receiving would give them a fighting chance of being competitive and these figures would also represent another substantial step forward for the player.
Joe Brady’s scheme looks tailormade for Moore to do some real damage. This can only mean good things for the Panthers’ aspirations going forward.
