Carolina Panthers target No. 2: 100 receptions

Another area that showed a marked improvement in D.J. Moore’s game last season was his ability to catch under pressure. The wideout hauled in 87 receptions from 135 targets, which also featured grabbing some throws that had no business being caught.

This all bodes well for Moore to progress further in 2020. Teddy Bridgewater might not have the mobility of a Cam Newton. But his accuracy is far better, and this can be the springboard to his No. 1 option getting over the 100-reception mark for the first time.

Much will depend on how offensive coordinator Joe Brady distributes the targets in 2020. The Carolina Panthers have an embarrassment of riches on offense and getting the balance right is going to be crucial for a progressive young mind that masterminded LSU’s historic passing attack in 2019 on their way to a convincing National Championship.

Moore’s versatility and outstanding route-running will ensure he remains heavily involved. There are plenty of financial implications surrounding an improved campaign for the player, who is heading into year three of his rookie deal that will inevitably see his fifth-year option picked up.

The Panthers have shown a willingness to reward stars who exceed expectations. One only has to look at the bumper extension given to All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey this offseason. If Moore can get over the 100-reception mark in 2020, it will do his chances of following in his footsteps the world of good.
