4 biggest disappointments of Carolina Panthers 2020 training camp
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers player No. 3: Cole Luke – CB
Another player who will look back on his time at training camp with a sense of regret is Cole Luke. The cornerback had a big opportunity to make his presence felt with the Carolina Panthers. But his lack of production eventually resulted in the organization moved on from the player last week.
Luke also cleared waivers, which is a further blow to his chances of making a roster in 2020. This is one of the biggest disappointments of camp when one considers just how much uncertainty there is within the Panthers’ cornerback room. But the simple fact of the matter is that the player did not do enough when given the chance to shine.
What comes next for Luke is uncertain. The former Notre Dame player has found it difficult to forge a successful career in the NFL after arriving in the league as an undrafted free-agent in 2017. There were high hopes for the corner to make bigger strides at camp this year after featuring in eight games for the Panthers last time out. However, this failed to materialize and eventually resulted in a parting of the ways.
The NFL is full of players who promise much and deliver little. The Panthers were probably hoping for the best when it came to Luke, but things often do not work out as expected.
