3 hurdles Robby Anderson must overcome with the Panthers in 2020
By Dean Jones
What are some of the hurdles facing Robby Anderson as the wide receiver looks to make a big impact with the Carolina Panthers in 2020?
Robby Anderson was the second biggest acquisition by the Carolina Panthers in free agency. The wide receiver has performed well since entering the league as an undrafted player. And he will now get the opportunity to make an impact in a new environment.
This represents a significant opportunity for Anderson, who reunites with his former college head coach Matt Rhule after signing a two-year, $20 million deal with an $8 million signing bonus and $12 million guaranteed. He has made an immensely positive start to life with the organization at training camp, which only heightens expectations surrounding the player in 2020.
Anderson put up some solid numbers during his time with the New York Jets despite some less than stellar quarterback play. The Temple product has not broken the 1,000-yard barrier so far. But there is a good chance he can finally achieve this feat with the Panthers.
He is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s best deep threats thanks to his blazing speed and ability to get open down the field. This is another exceptional tool for the Panthers to call upon within an offense that has the potential to be elite if they hit the ground running.
Big things are expected of Anderson next season. But that does not mean there are not some challenges the player needs to overcome to make a real go of this opportunity.
Here are three hurdles facing Anderson during his first season in Carolina.
