Carolina Panthers decision No. 4: Who can fill in at WR behind the ‘big three’?

The Carolina Panthers have their top-three wide receivers cemented in D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Robby Anderson. This trio has limitless potential and could become one of the NFL’s best in 2020 if they reach their ceiling.

More might still be needed from other role players if the Panthers want to surprise those who have already written off their chances. This is another conundrum that Matt Rhule must come to a decision on as the final cuts loom and there are plenty on the roster who consider themselves worthy of winning a roster spot.

Brandon Zylstra and Pharoh Cooper are two wideouts that produced the goods when it mattered most at camp. Both are strong contenders for targets in 2020 thanks to their ability to make big plays during team drills and would count themselves highly unfortunate if they were not included.

Another that has made a lasting impact is undrafted free-agent Omar Bayless. The former Arkansas State standout might be spending the first part of the campaign on IR. But the Panthers are clearly invested in the player as a long-term project.

Seth Roberts has been sidelined with a concussion for a large portion of camp in the concussion protocol. Only time will tell as to whether this is going to impact his targets in 2020. But again, this is a nice problem to have for Rhule heading into his first campaign as an NFL head coach.
