Not having Cam Newton associated with the Carolina Panthers anymore still seems strange. The NFL waits for no man and the organization will now move forward with Teddy Bridgewater as their No. 1 option.

This is an opportunity that Bridgewater has worked exceptionally hard to achieve. His career prospects were left in tatters by a devastating leg injury with the Minnesota Vikings. And his four-year journey to a prominent starter is nothing short of inspirational.

What comes next for Bridgewater will be equally as important. The Panthers invested heavily in bringing him in during free agency. But he will need to hit the ground running in order to win over large sections of Carolina’s fanbase who wanted Newton to get one more shot under the new regime.

Who backs up the signal-caller is up for debate. The Panthers will probably take through both Will Grier and P.J. Walker on their roster. And Matt Rhule has already declared that this will be an ongoing competition between the two throughout the campaign.

Grier and Walker have enjoyed some nice moments during training camp. This was vital for each player to enhance their prospects of a successful career in the NFL and it would be a huge shock if one of them fell victim to being cut in the coming days.
