Carolina Panthers final 2020 roster projection: Offense
By Dean Jones
Tight ends (3)
- Ian Thomas
- Chris Manhertz
- Temarrick Hemingway
Big things are expected of Ian Thomas in 2020 following the departure of prolific veteran Greg Olsen. Becoming the No. 1 option on the Carolina Panthers is something the player has wanted for a considerable period. But whether he can make the most out of this opportunity is another matter entirely.
Thomas did have an injury scare this week, which only highlights the lack of real depth behind the former Indiana standout. The Panthers appear to be all-in on the third-year-pro at least in the short-term and a solid season of production could come with a longer commitment next spring.
Chris Manhertz is also a lock to make the team thanks to his supreme blocking ability on the edge. This will come in handy during running situations with so much uncertainty surrounding the Panthers’ offensive line. And the player has also been working hard to improve his pass-catching during training camp that will stand him in good stead.
One surprising addition to the roster could be Temarrick Hemingway. The player has found life difficult making a 53-man roster in years gone by. But he has made some outstanding plays at camp that could tip the scales in the player’s favor when the final decisions are made this weekend.
