Which players will form the defensive unit of the Carolina Panthers after the final cuts are made following training camp?

The time for talk is almost over for the Carolina Panthers. Their season opener is a little more than a week away and this is coming with final cuts that have to be made by Saturday.

New head coach Matt Rhule has to determine which players will be capable of producing the goods when competitive action gets underway. The Carolina Panthers already have their backs to the wall thanks to a complete overhaul in personnel and philosophy this offseason. The lack of warmup games to implement a different style of play is something else that might work against them during the early stages of the campaign.

There are plenty of concerns surrounding the Panthers’ defense in 2020. Established veteran leaders are no longer with the organization. But they have been replaced by young, hungry individuals who can develop and become a solid unit as the season goes on.

This is always a nervous time for those who are not necessarily guaranteed their place on the roster. Some will be on the outside looking in after failing to do enough. Others will find a new home quickly thanks to the talent at their disposal.

Rhule and other decision-makers must get these selections right to give them a good chance of leaving their mark during this period of transition. Let’s take a look at which players might form the Panthers’ defense after the final cuts are made this weekend.
