Chris Gamble – CB

Chris Gamble was another lifer for the Carolina Panthers that had an exceptional career with the organization. This might not have come with a Pro Bowl selection. But his effort, commitment, and ability to hold his own against the best wide receivers in the business is something he can look back on with a huge sense of achievement.

Big things were expected of Gamble when the Panthers took him No. 28 overall in the 2004 NFL Draft. The cornerback made his presence felt from the moment he stepped between the lines and quickly emerged as a key cog in Carolina’s defense.

The former Ohio State standout burst onto the scene at the next level with 13 interceptions in his first two years as a professional. Gamble never quite met these heights after that. But his production was still of an immensely high standard.

He eventually finished his career with 27 interceptions, 98 pass deflections, 510 combined tackles, 440 solo tackles, four forced fumbles, and 21 tackles for loss. It is safe to say that Gamble lived up to his billing over his nine seasons in Carolina and retiring rather than playing for another team following his release was a further indication of what the Panthers meant to him.
