Temarrick Hemingway – TE

Despite Temarrick Hemingway having a strong camp, he was released by the Carolina Panthers. This ends another attempt to make an NFL and further add to the player’s frustrations at the next level.

The Panthers only took two tight ends onto their 53-man roster. Ian Thomas has been dealing with a toe issue and Chris Manhertz has his limitations in the passing game, so it would be a huge shock if they didn’t make more moves in this area.

Hemingway can look back on his time at camp with an enormous sense of pride. The tight end made some big plays during team drills and displayed the sort of athleticism that Carolina’s decision-makers coveted heavily throughout a busy offseason period of player movement.

Whether Hemingway will get a chance to showcase his skill set elsewhere remains to be seen. He is running out of opportunities to stake a claim in the NFL and the Panthers’ decision to release rather than waive the player would indicate he is not going to be part of their practice squad plans.

This is a decision they might regret, especially if Thomas and Manhertz do not reach expectations. Hemingway would have probably fancied his chances of making the team. But he is now back to square one instead.
