Brian Burns – Carolina Panthers DE

Everything looked positive for Brian Burns after a first drive where he generated some tremendous pressure during his matchup against Raiders’ left tackle Kolton Miller. This was something that didn’t last too much longer and contributed to a distinct lack of pressure from the defensive front.

The Carolina Panthers were unable to get the better of a formidable Las Vegas offensive line, who had their way with players such as Burns who were looking to make their presence felt in the backfield.

Defensive coordinator Phil Snow tried numerous ways to keep Burns involved, including standing him up as an outside linebacker. But it did not have the desired effect.

It was almost time to put an APB out for Burns before he made a play in the second half. He eventually finished with four combined tackles and three solo tackles, which was not what the doctor ordered for a defense that is relying on the 2019 first-round pick heavily.

Snow has to do a better job of finding the right spots for Burns to do damage. Much credit must go to Miller for thwarting his threat consistently. But the defensive end is going to find life tough making a difference if he cannot raise his game in the coming weeks.
