Micah Parsons – Penn State (LB)

Micah Parsons might be opted out of his final season at Penn State due to fears surrounding COVID-19. But his stock has gone up with the Carolina Panthers without playing a single down.

This is thanks to the struggles suffered at the second level by the Panthers in their defeat at the hands of the Raiders. They were unable to plug the gaps in running situations and a lack of awareness in coverage is also something of a concern.

It was only Week 1, and not having any preseason games will mean there is some acclimatizing to be done. But if things do not improve, and quickly, then it is going to make Parsons an enticing proposition for the Panthers and one that could give their defense a huge shot in the arm following the retirement of Luke Kuechly.

Parsons is now fully focused on preparing for the NFL Draft. This is an avenue that many top prospects have gone down in recent weeks with so much uncertainty over the college season and his production on the field means that there won’t be any sort of impact on his draft projection by making this sort of move.

The energetic player is a physically imposing defender who has exceptional explosiveness. He reads plays extremely well and is also a useful asset to have in coverage, which are two areas in which Kuechly excelled during his time in Carolina.
