How will the Carolina Panthers cope without Christian McCaffrey?

Trenton Cannon – Carolina Panthers RB
Trenton Cannon was a late arrival to the Carolina Panthers during training camp and he made his presence felt from the outset. He has been used sparingly in a competitive setting so far. But it would be no surprise to see him more involved now Christian McCaffrey will spend the next month or so out of action.
Cannon is an elusive figure who did catch the eye at times during his spell with the New York Jets. Looking good in that offense is difficult even for the most talented of players. So if he can get back to the player we saw during his rookie season, then the former sixth-round pick might have something to offer.
The back ran for 113 rushing yards, one touchdown, and seven first downs during his first season in a professional environment. Cannon also notched 17 receptions from 25 targets to secure 114 receiving yards and four first downs.
Foot and ankle injuries slowed his progress considerably. But with Mike Davis expected to get the bulk of McCaffrey’s workload, Cannon represents a nice change of pace that the opposition might not see coming, at the very least.
This situation will also give the Panthers a good opportunity to see if Cannon is worth keeping around for the duration of their rebuild. It is a chance that the player cannot pass up and it is vital he makes the most of whatever carries and targets come his way in the weeks ahead.
