Jordan Scarlett

Jordan Scarlett is no stranger to the Carolina Panthers having been released prior to the season. The former fifth-round pick wasn’t given much of an opportunity to showcase his skill set during his time with the organization and remains on the free-agent scrapheap despite a couple of teams showing interest.

Scarlett would be an enticing option for the Panthers due to his familiarity with the system. He participated in a large portion of training camp and would be able to slot in right away without much time to get up to speed.

Whether Scarlett did enough to convince the coaching staff that he is worthy of a second chance is another matter entirely. He is still a relatively unknown quantity in terms of what the player can do in an NFL environment. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

Scarlett was a popular member of the locker room and fanbase alike. That doesn’t necessarily translate to solid production on the field. But the Panthers could do a lot worse than looking in his direction for additional depth following the devastating news regarding Christian Mccaffrey.

This might be the avenue back into the league that Scarlett is looking for. The chances of him moving above the three running backs on the team currently appear slim. But a place on the practice squad in the event of another injury is not entirely out of the question.
