Bilal Powell

Bilal Powell would be a ground and pound running back for the Carolina Panthers who might actually be a nice option compared to others who look more comfortable in passing situations. He loves nothing more than banging between the tackles and although things haven’t panned out as expected after a promising start to his career, it remains an intriguing option nonetheless.

Things looked promising for Powell following consecutive seasons of more than 700 rushing yards in 2016 and 2017. Injury problems have blighted his progress ever since and he joined current Panthers player Trenton Cannon in being released by the New York Jets prior to the campaign.

Even the most talented back in the business would have trouble standing out for the Jets in their current predicament. One only has to look at Le’Veon Bell’s plight with the franchise to see that. But if Powell is given another opportunity to shine elsewhere, it could bring out the best in him.

Powell is also able to make an impact in the passing game if presented with an opportunity. It’s easy to forget he once collected 58 receptions in a season at MetLife Stadium in years gone by. But he started just one game last time out on his way to 228 rushing yards on 59 carries, 12 first downs, and a modest 54.8 grade from Pro Football Focus.

The Pathers might be content with what they have for the time Christian Mccaffrey will be missing. But bringing someone like Powell into the mix definitely has its benefits.
