Woodrow Hamilton – Carolina Panthers DT

There wasn’t much in the way of hope that Woodrow Hamilton could come straight off the practice squad and make a contribution at the Buccaneers. Thankfully for the player and the Carolina Panthers, he was able to do just that.

The defensive tackle was tasked with a primary rotational role and thrived during his time on the field. Hamilton came up with some big plays and provided a resolute presence on the interior that was a pleasant surprise for all concerned.

Whether Hamilton is going to be on the roster for much longer when Kawann Short returns to the fold is up for debate. But the way he caught the eye will have undoubtedly impressed the coaching staff.

Carolina’s defensive line has been a disappointment overall over the last two games. The lack of pressure generated has not done the team’s suspect secondary any favors and it remains to be seen whether or not this is a trend that is going to continue as the campaign progresses.

Hamilton’s contribution earned an impressive 68.6 grade from Pro Football Focus and it has significantly boosted his chances of a more increased role if things don’t improve in this particular area of the field in the coming weeks.
