4 key Panthers matchups to watch at the Chargers in Week 3

Taylor Moton vs. Joey Bosa
The Carolina Panthers might be struggling overall. But it is clear that they have one of the best young protectors in the game in right tackle Taylor Moton.
The right tackle has hit the ground running this season with two outstanding displays. He is an assured presence on the edge that has been a real asset to the running game and giving quarterback Teddy Bridgewater the protection he needs.
Moton has earned an eye-catching 70.2 grade from Pro Football Focus after not giving away a sack or penalty from 140 snaps this season. This has already put the former second-round pick in a strong bargaining position in the final year of his deal and if he can pass this weekend’s test, then the Panthers would be wise to give the lineman whatever he wants.
He faces the sternest of challenges at the Los Angeles Chargers in the form of Joey Bosa. The stud pass-rusher is among the NFL’s most prolific at getting in the backfield thanks to his polished moves and high engine that makes him incredibly difficult to stop.
This is a substantial challenge for Moton, but it is one that might finally move him into the elite discussion. The Western Michigan product is right on the cusp of greatness entering his prime and a star showing against Bosa would elevate him to heights not seen from the player before.
