4 key Panthers matchups to watch at the Chargers in Week 3

Rasul Douglas vs. Keenan Allen
One of the more encouraging things to come out of the 2020 season so far has been the production of Rasul Douglas. The cornerback was a later arrival onto the 53-roster and he thrived with the extra responsibility that the Carolina Panthers gave him in Week 2 at the Buccaneers.
This has all-but cemented Douglas’ place in the starting lineup, at least until Eli Apple is fit enough to come off the reserve/injured list. He has made the most out of another opportunity after being cut by the Philadelphia Eagles and there is another big test awaiting him on Sunday.
It appears likely that No. 1 option Donte Jackson will be tasked with going down the field with Mike Williams and prevent his deep threat. This will leave Douglas tasked with thwarting the exceptional skills that Keenan Allen brings to the table.
Allen is as good a route runner as there is in the league. The wideout is equally adept at making a lasting contribution from the outside or in the slot and he will see this as a real opportunity to get his season on the right path after a solid if not spectacular start to the campaign.
The former third-round pick has brought in 11 receptions from 17 targets for 133 receiving yards over two games. Allen can get those valuable short to intermediate yards to move the chains and also has the ability to break off big plays.
This makes him an absolute nightmare for even the best cornerbacks. Douglas has his work cut out in no uncertain terms this weekend.
