4 sneaky threats the Panthers should watch out for in Week 3
By Dean Jones
Kenneth Murray – LB
There is a lot to like about the skills that Kenneth Murray brings to the table. The enthusiastic linebacker has made a tremendous start to life in the NFL after coming into the league with the expectations that are customary of a first-round pick.
The former Oklahoma standout can do it all. He is a significant presence in the run game who also has the athleticism and explosiveness to get after the quarterback when required. With Melvin Ingram set to miss the game through injury, the onus will be on Murray and others to step up in his potential absence.
How the Carolina Panthers could use someone like Murray at the linebacker position. Although rookie Jeremy Chinn has shown tremdnsous promise, the production of Shaq Thompson and Tahir Whitehead has left plenty to be desired and put into question their long-term future with the franchise.
Murray’s NFL outlook looks far more promising. The No. 23 overall pick has logged 18 combined tackles, ten solo tackles, one pass deflection, and a modest 50.9 grade from Pro Football Focus. There is no doubting the player’s outstanding potential and if the Panthers fail to account for him at all times, then it could result in the first-year-pro having a big impact.
