3 reasons why the Carolina Panthers should trade Kawann Short
By Dean Jones
It might be time for the Carolina Panthers to cut their losses and trade Kawann Short.
Things haven’t got off to the best of starts for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 despite their impressive win at the Los Angeles Chargers. And they should already be making plans on how to improve their chances of success going forward.
Starting the season in this manner was something that was to be expected given the number of changes made by the Carolina Panthers this offseason. But there might be some light at the end of the tunnel if their performance at SoFi Stadium was any indication.
Their Week 3 victory at the Chargers was another game that could have gone either way beforehand. Not having Christian McCaffrey was something that could have complicated matters, but the roster dug deep to end their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season.
The Panthers might decide to strike while the iron is hot and build their draft capital ahead of the trade deadline. Kawann Short has appeared in just one game for the organization this season after spending all but two contests on injured/reserve during the previous campaign. So the time for the decision-makers to start exploring some options to move on from one of their few remaining veterans might be now.
Short has enjoyed a standout career with the Panthers. But the simple fact of the matter is that he cannot be relied upon and the player probably deserves better at this stage of his career.
Here are three reasons why the Panthers should strongly consider trading Short at the earliest possible opportunity.
