Kawann Short’s health

Another reason for the Carolina Panthers to get what they can for Kawann Short is the health issues surrounding the player.

He lasted just two games of the 2019 campaign before going on injured/reserve with a torn rotator cuff. Short’s lack of availability resulted in the Panthers boasting one of the NFL’s worst run defenses and although he has fully recovered from this problem, it didn’t take long for another to surface.

Short did manage to take his place in the lineup for their Week 1 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. But a foot injury has ruled the player out ever since. This is more than a concern for the organization and they might just decide to take their chances with what they have and move the defensive lineman on, providing he can prove his fitness to another team.

This is not the way Short will want to end a glittering career in Carolina. But the current regime has shown no sentiment towards those who gave the franchise so much over the years.

Cam Newton and Greg Olsen have moved on without so much as a thank you this offseason. And Short could add his name to the list if there is interest.

A name like his doesn’t come around often on the trade market and although there are some substantial financial factors to consider. He might be enough to put a contending team over the hump providing the player can rid himself of injury troubles.
