Despite the Carolina Panthers getting their first win on the board last weekend, they go into their game against the Cardinals as slight underdogs.
The current line is either 3-3.5 depending on where you are betting. This indicates the Panthers might have a sneaky chance to get themselves back to .500 after the first month of the season, which would represent a significant achievement when one considers just how bleak their expectations were going into the season.
If DeAndre Hopkins misses the game through injury, then Carolina’s chances of success improve considerably. The All-Pro wideout has been targeted heavily so far and the quality of weapons behind him represents a steep drop-off.
The Panthers are still a work in progress, so it is always a slightly uneasy betting on them to win outright. But the +155 looks particularly tempting and might be worth a gamble if Hopkins is ruled out, although these odds would likely come down almost immediately following this particular scenario’s news.
For now, taking Carolina at +3.5 represents good value, especially what we saw from both teams last weekend. It should also be a high-scoring affair, so if you can get the over/under at 50.5, then bet the over and you probably won’t be disappointed.
