Juston Burris – Carolina Panthers S

Juston Burris has had his fair share of critics during his initial transition to the Carolina Panthers. His level of play wasn’t what the organization expected after giving him a two-year, $8 million deal during free agency and it left some questioning just how much longer he would hold a starting berth.

The safety showed signs of life at the Chargers in Week 3 and followed this up with an outstanding display in Carolina’s convincing victory over the Cardinals. He provided a nice security blanket for a cornerback group that is improving all the time and Burris’ ability to come down to the second level and make some impressive plays is

This is a trend that can hopefully continue as the season progresses. Burris was a new arrival to the Panthers and didn’t have any preseason games to get acclimatized to his new surroundings, so there should be more to come from the player now he has found his feet.

Burris finished the game with six combined tackles, one pass deflection, five solo tackles, and a tackle for loss. His partnership with Tre Boston seems to be blossoming after both didn’t exactly cover themselves in glory during the first fortnight and this is another welcome boost to a Panthers’ defense that is young, energetic, and hungry to succeed.
