Jeremy Chinn – Carolina Panthers OLB

There was a lot to like about the physical attributes Jeremy Chinn brought with him to the Carolina Panthers. The organization decided to trade back into the second round to take the do-it-all defender at No. 64 overall and it already looks to be a good piece of business by the front office.

Chinn has been nothing short of phenomenal so far. He leads all rookies in tackles made and given the fact he is trying to adjust from safety to the outside linebacker spot, it makes it all the more impressive.

The former Southern Illinois standout has been the beating heart of the Panthers defense through the first quarter of the campaign. Chinn has led by example and displayed the sort of athleticism that is going to make him a star at the next level incredibly quickly.

There is nothing that Chinn cannot do on the field. He has an explosiveness that allows him to get to the point of attack quickly and this is matched by a physical element to his tackling that shouldn’t be overlooked.

His experience as a defensive back has allowed him to cover well from the slot, for the most part. But it is Chinn’s ability to lead and motivate others around that is perhaps the most impressive feature of all after just four weeks in a professional environment.

Chinn has amassed 35 combined tackles, 19 solo tackles, one quarterback hit, and one tackle for loss. The sky is the limit for the rookie and this might even come with a Pro Bowl appearance if his stock continues to rise.
