Joey Slye – Carolina Panthers K

Carolina Panthers kicker Joey Slye had another busy afternoon against the Cardinals. Slye was successful on four PATs and one 27 yard field goal and ended the day with seven fantasy points. Unfortunately, Slye missed an opportunity to add to his total when he missed a 42-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. The miss snapped his streak of consecutive makes at 16, dating back to Week 12 of last year.

START.

Through four weeks, Slye has only missed one field goal and one PAT. There’s a good chance he will have a lot of opportunities to put up points in this week’s game as the Panthers should be able to move the ball easily for the second week in a row.

The Panthers defense passed the eye test and slowed down Arizona, especially early in the game. Unfortunately, the commendable effort only translated to three fantasy points. The reason being mainly was because Carolina surrendered three touchdowns as the Cardinals were trying to claw back into the game.

Their defense is averaging four fantasy points a game in the first quarter of the season and neither they nor the special teams have scored a touchdown, so there’s definitely room for improvement.

SIT.

The Panthers are playing strong against the pass, allowing only 6.1 yards per attempt. This presents an interesting matchup against the Falcons who like to throw the ball downfield.

Matt Ryan is also trending downward from a fantasy standpoint. The 13-year veteran has only earned 12 fantasy points in back to back weeks. Nonetheless, the Falcons are desperate for a home win and know they may have to put up a lot of points to do it, so keep the Panthers DST out of your lineup this week.
