3 key stats behind Robby Anderson’s sensational start to the 2020 season

94.3 receiving yards per game
One doesn’t have to look far on the stat sheet to see just how consistent Robby Anderson has been over his first four games with the Carolina Panthers. His influence has been there for all to see and his 94.3 receiving yards-per-game average is up there among the NFL’s best.
To say this sort of production is a surprise would be something of an understatement. Hopes were high regarding the player’s ability to improve his number to a certain degree, but not many expected such a significant rise across the board.
Anderson currently sits at No. 6 in the receiving charts, according to ESPN. This is sure to come with a bigger bullseye on Anderson’s back for the remainder of the season. But it might just free-up additional space for other prominent pass-catchers to do damage in other areas.
This is a win-win for the Panthers, either way. It would be a huge surprise if this offense didn’t get even better with more time together on the field and there is the added bonus of getting star running back Christian McCaffrey back from the reserve/injured list to further bolster their chances.
Whether the Panthers will go back to leaning heavily on McCaffrey immediately following his return is up for debate. But Anderson’s role as a focal point in their passing endeavors is guaranteed as long as he is still performing at such a high level.
