4 key matchups for the Panthers at the Falcons in Week 5

John Miller vs. Grady Jarrett
John Miller has brought on his level of play encouragingly after a rocky start to life with the Carolina Panthers. The offensive lineman looked a little shaky through the first two weeks. But he has now firmly found his feet and has been a welcome boost considering the problems that emerged from this area of the field in 2019.
Miller signed a one-year, $4 million deal in free agency following a solid if not spectacular stint with the Cincinnati Bengals. Sunday’s game at the Falcons represents the stiffest test of the season so far, with the player set to come up against Grady Jarrett.
The defensive tackle is one of the NFL’s best at the position. Jarrett has the potential to wreak havoc on any given down and the former fifth-round pick already boasts 2.5 sacks, five tackles for loss, and five quarterback hits from his 2020 efforts so far.
If Miller can come through this latest test, then it might be enough for the Panthers to give him a longer-term commitment next spring. His contribution this season has resulted in a respectable 56.5 grade from Pro Football Focus and the third-round selection in 2015 has been as advertised so far.
Miller will also have the benefit of Matt Paradis alongside him for additional help. The center is enjoying a bounce-back season after a disappointing 2019 and his high level of play will be crucial for Teddy Bridgewater’s time in the pocket.
