Carolina Panthers at Falcons: Best bets

The opening betting line earlier this week had the Falcons favored by 3.5 points. This seems to have been gobbled up by bettors, which has seen their advantage cut to virtually a pick ’em game at 1-1.5 points.

This was probably down to the fact that the Carolina Panthers have such a poor record at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. But it might be worth remembering that this team looks far more promising than any that has visited Atlanta in recent years.

Confidence is a big thing in today’s NFL. There is more scrutiny on teams than ever before and everyone looking all will know what’s at stake for Dan Quinn if things go pear-shaped for the fifth week in a row.

According to The Action Network, 58 percent of the early money is going on the Panthers. They are riding on the crest of a wave and those looking to make some money are keen to take advantage of this.

Betting on them outright was something we contemplated last week against the Cardinals before eventually going with the spread. But there is more confidence surrounding them in this one and going with the money line at +106 is a risk well worth taking given their form.

It might end up being a high-scoring game. The over-under of 54 seems right on the edge, but we are inclined to bet the over and hope the Panthers can come out on the other end with the win.
